lighting the way for veterans at home
We believe that finishing a higher education is one of the key factors in reintegrating veterans into the civilian world with long-term success.
20% of candle sales go to a scholarship fund directed at financially assisting Disabled Veterans returning to school.
Each candle is handcrafted, and made of 100% soy wax. We do not factory produce our candles. Every candle made by a disabled veteran is marked with a sticker letting you know "this candle was handcrafted by a disabled veteran." We take pride in our slow, evenly burning, high quality candles. Each 16oz candle will burn between 90-94 hours. All of the wax burns evenly, so you are getting your money's worth!
Jarhead Candle Company, Inc. is a disabled veteran owned and operated small business by Michael Sabato. Michael served in the United States Marine Corps from 2001-2005 when he was honorably discharged as Corporal. During that time, he served as an Explosive Detection Dog Handler in Okinawa, Japan, MCAS Miramar, and Kabul, Afghanistan. He is a service connected Disabled Veteran who started making candles as a form of therapy to help him cope with his PTSD while he attended school full-time. He realized how financially difficult it is for veterans going back to school as non-traditional students; many have families to support and bills to pay. As an unemployed, full-time student, he realized how he could refocus his therapy to help other veterans in addition to himself.
